Added in Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials, safes are unique blocks found in trial rooms that give loot to each player once when opened with a trial key. While this may seem simple and unnecessary for single players, servers have long suffered from their structure being looted on a first-come, first-serve basis, leaving dozens, or in some cases, hundreds of players unable to be rewarded for doing the same thing.

Will Vaults Be Added to Old Minecraft Structures?

Despite numerous community posts on social media and official Minecraft feedback sources, there has been no official response as to whether a safe will be added to the old structure. But that doesn’t mean updates like that will never come because they also never reject them. With Mojang’s new drop style update, there may be an update dedicated to breathing new life into the game’s old structure at some point in the future.

Ideas For Implementation

One of the main causes of gaps in domes applied to old structures is their implementation. Some people would be fine with safes in every structure requiring trial keys, while others would argue that it would interfere with exploration and not fit with the long-standing theme.

A compromise to these ideas could be a unique variant of the safe in each structure, with keys obtained at the location through pre-existing features such as archeology or dropped from monsters in certain areas. Mojang could also go further by reworking each individual structure over a long period of time, adding a key through puzzle in a desert temple as an example of the idea.

Overall, there are many routes to take, and we’re confident that Mojang will ultimately produce something far beyond what we imagined. It’s just a matter of waiting until the day they do.
