Police Arrest Sam Williams On Controlled Substance And Weapon Charges

Police arrested Dallas Cowboys star Sam Williams Sunday on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon and possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest took place in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, and the police department wouldn’t provide further details, according to The Associated Press (The AP).

Williams could be disciplined under the NFL’s personal conduct policy and is subject to a suspension or fine because of the incident, per The AP. (RELATED: REPORT: Judge Orders Police To Arrest Antonio Brown For Missed Child Support Payments: REPORT)

“I don’t anticipate this impacting his time on the field,” Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, said.

The controlled substance charge is for a substance other than marijuana, according to police. In Texas, the unlawful carrying of a weapon is a Class A misdemeanor, according to Fox News

This is the second arrest for Williams in 2023. In January, he turned himself in to the police in the Dallas suburb of Plano for driving recklessly following an accident in December 2022, The AP noted.

Williams reportedly crashed his Corvette into a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old woman just days before Christmas near the Cowboys’ headquarters in Frisco. Williams and the woman were reportedly not seriously injured in the crash. Williams missed one game following the wreck, suffering from a concussion and minor neck injuries, The AP noted.
