Nicholas Galitzine is known for playing strapping leads, but his best performance was a side role in a low-budget comedy — Subordinate.
Galitzine gained fame as a romantic lead Red, White & Royal Blue (2023) and Ideas about you (2024). This summer, he transforms into a giant He-Man in his upcoming action film, Ruler of the Universe. Although his romantic films dabble in comedy, the actor’s roles are mostly measured and based on drama.
Subordinate sees Galitzine indulge in pure, unfettered stupidity, to the delight of actor and audience alike. This 2023 LGBTQ+ comedy follows two high school girls (Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott) as they start an all-girl fight club in an effort to attract the interest of their cheerleader. Galitzine plays Jeff, a adored football star with a cheerleader girlfriend (Havana Rose Liu).
Directed by Emma Seligman (Dear Shiva), the film instantly became a cult classic for its surreal comedy that hearkens back to films such as Not Another Teen Film or But I’m a Cheerleader. While perhaps not as well known as his more serious works, Subordinate is Galitzine’s best film to date.
Nicholas Galitzine Parodies the Athlete Archetype on the Bottom
The film depicts a surreal, high school version. Thus, the actors have the freedom to explore the most exaggerated versions of their basic characters Subordinate. Galitzine apparently thrives on this freedom.
Jeff is the most extreme version of the pampered athlete stereotype, idolized to the level of a religious figure. He actually ate lunch at a cloth-covered table in front of a large reproduction of Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam,” with its likeness of Adam.
The entire school, especially Jeff’s overly doting friend (Miles Fowler), protects and defends the star at all costs. This indulgence turns him into a helpless boy who collapses in grief when his knee is hit by a car. Ditching the hyper-masculine bravado of the jock archetype, Galitzine plays Jeff as a dim-witted diva.
Talk to Leo Woodall on Variation Series actor Galitzine explained that he had to abandon his usual process of understanding and inhibiting a character. As a goofy cartoon version of a jock, Jeff lacks the depth necessary for extensive character exploration. In contrast, Galitzine approaches scenes cleanly, paying attention to the moment and letting the action take its course. This openness translates into uninhibited performances that produce his best and silliest work.
Emma Seligman would direct Galitzine to play one scene as if he were a fussy baby, another scene as if he were a manipulative sociopath, and so on. Galitzine unashamedly commits to this acting exercise and delivers an over-the-top, hilarious performance that somehow still feels cohesive.
Bottoms Showcases Galitzine’s Comedy Range and Skills
Although known as an authoritative leader, Galitzine expertly leans into the absurd Subordinate. His performance shows the ability to embody any character, no matter how strange. He showed particular dexterity in physical comedy, an aspect of the role he described as freeing to explore in interviews.
Galitzine leans into Jeff’s absurdity in every scene, whether dramatically performing “Total Eclipse of the Heart” in his bedroom or violently thrusting it onto the football field. Even though his acting is very cartoonish, Galitzine is still able to portray Jeff as a real and interesting character.
Viewers will not get enough of this despicable character because of Galitzine’s hilarious appearance. Jeff is an annoying complication in the film’s narrative—unless our protagonist is his crush—but you don’t want such an entertaining character to go away. In the SubordinateGalitzine proved that he could not only perform in live comedy but even stand out from the cast of professional comedians.
The 2023 film showcases Galitzine’s incredible versatility, proving that he has the makings of a compelling lead and a great comedic actor. Before Galitzine storms the cinema as He-Man enters Ruler of the Universethe audience got to see the actor’s most uninhibited and absolutely brilliant role, Subordinate.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
